RAINN
Phase 2

Staff/Volunteer Survey

Staff/Volunteers fill out an online form at the end of a session that focuses on perceived helpfulness of the session from the volunteer’s viewpoint, type of issues discussed in the sessions (e.g. rape, family relationships, health), type of services provided (e.g. police information, referral to local organization, supportive counseling), and types of infrastructure or service-related difficulties encountered in the session.

Staff Volunteer Survey
  1. What barriers do you think exist to obtaining information from staff/volunteers after engaging in an online session?
  2. What factors do you think could distort the responses received, in terms of the types of sessions for which responses are completed, the characteristics of staff members/volunteers who complete it, or other variables? How could RAINN try to account for those threats to validity?
  3. Overall, what might RAINN try to encourage staff/volunteers to fill out the survey?
  4. Some staff may argue that the time used to fill out the survey would be better used in helping visitors. As an evaluator, how would you respond to this?
